Temples in Ujjain

Ujjain — Ujjayini in Sanskrit — is one of the seven sacred cities of India and among the four Kumbh Mela venues. Set on the Shipra river, it houses the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, the Harsiddhi Shakti Peeth and dozens of ancient temples. Ujjain is also known for its astronomical heritage as the meridian of Indian time.

Best time to visit: October to March. Simhastha Kumbh returns in 2028.
