Temples in Mathura

Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, is one of the seven Moksha-puris of India. Along with neighbouring Vrindavan and Gokul, it forms the sacred Braj Bhoomi where every ghat, kund and temple echoes with Krishna leela. From the Janmabhoomi at Mathura to Banke Bihari in Vrindavan, this circuit is central to Vaishnav devotion.

Best time to visit: October to March for pleasant weather; Janmashtami (Aug–Sep) and Holi (March) are spectacular.
